Coldplay's New Album Will Have Emoji Song Titles

COLDPLAY announced yesterday that their new album is coming out in October. It's called "Music of the Spheres". But what's most interesting is that five of the 11 tracks have EMOJIS for song titles.

They include a ringed planet, a red heart, and a sparkle. But I can't guarantee that's how they'll appear on YOUR streaming service.

Already on Apple Music, the titles are showing characters that look close, but they aren't emojis. They're actually called Unicode characters that are used in coding.

Back in May, CHRIS MARTIN said, quote, "We're trying to have the first album ever with some tracks that are just called emojis, but it's proving tricky because of all the service providers."

So it sounds like they anticipated the difficulty of having these characters appear consistently on multiple platforms.

Lily Cornell Honors Chris Cornell’s Birthday With Finale “Mind Wide Open” Episode

Lily Cornell Silver has honored what would’ve been her late dad Chris Cornell’s 57th birthday with the final episode of her “Mind Wide Open” series. For the last episode, Lily does a rare interview with her mom, longtime Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden manager, Susan Silver.

Together, they talk about mental health and addiction – something Susan dealt with first hand a lot in the Seattle music scene – along with the benefits of therapy, their own wellness journeys, and open up about grief. Susan says that “self-care is not self-indulgence,” meaning people have to take care of themselves before they can help others.

“Today marks the one-year anniversary of the series, which I launched in honor of my dad on his birthday,” Lily says in a statement. “I feel so lucky to have been able to create this series and provide a resource for mental health, a topic near to my heart; I couldn’t have done so without the help and inspiration of both of my beautiful parents.” Check out the whole episode below.

Perry Farrell Calls Jane’s Addiction Most Underrated Band Ever

If you ask Perry Farrell, Jane’s Addiction deserved more hype. When asked by “Classic Rock” magazine who the most underrated band ever is, Perry lists his own.

In fact, Perry thinks they’re “every bit as great as Guns N’ Roses.” The rocker says he only broke up the band “at their height” because he wanted to “get away from those guys” and do his own thing. But if he hadn’t, he thinks maybe they would’ve made as many records as Guns N’ Roses, too.

“It was an amazing project, and maybe it wouldn’t have been any better,” he says. “But now I look around and think: ‘Damn, I should have been more productive in that area’.”

Rock Songs Based on Real Tragedies

Every song tells a story. Some are based on TRUE stories. Like the ones on this list of rock songs inspired by real-life tragedies . . .

1. "Tears in Heaven"Eric Clapton . . . It was written about the death of his 4-year-old son who fell out of a window.

2. "Looking For An Answer"Linkin Park . . . Mike Shinoda wrote this about the passing of Chester Bennington and the band debuted it at Chester's tribute show.

3. "Jeremy"Pearl Jam . . . Inspired by the death of a high school student named Jeremy who shot himself in front of his class in 1991.

4. "Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners"Foo Fighters . . . Dave Grohl wrote this for the two miners who were trapped underground for two weeks in Australia. He had heard that one of them asked for an iPod loaded with their music to be sent down to them, so he sent a personal message and offered tickets and beers on him.

5. "War Pigs"Black Sabbath . . . An anti-war song in response to the fear that British men would have to enlist to fight in the Vietnam War.

6. "Adam's Song"Blink-182 . . . Mark Hoppus was inspired by a suicide note he read in a magazine.

7. "P.L.U.C.K."System of a Down . . . It stands for Politcally Lying Unholy Cowardly Killers. It's dedicated to the lives that were lost in the Armenian Genocide of World War 1, which is estimated to be over one million.

8. "Skylines and Turnstiles"My Chemical Romance . . . Gerard Way witnessed the tragedy of 9/11 and was inspired to not only co-write the song but also start the band.

9. "Empire of the Clouds"Iron Maiden . . . It's inspired by a British airship that crashed during its first journey in 1930.

10. "Manhattan Project"Rush . . . It's based on the World War 2 project that created the first atomic bombs that would eventually be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
