There's a permanent debate in this country over which city has the best barbecue. This was NOT the way to settle it.
A food magazine called "Chef's Pencil" decided they'd take on the challenge, so they put out a list that, quote, "analyzed TripAdvisor ratings of all BBQ joints in the nation's top 75 largest cities and ranked the cities based on their average ratings."
And . . . swing and a miss. Their top 10 list is missing lots of the most famous barbecue cities in the country . . . but does include places that aren't at all known for their barbecue like Miami and Newark, New Jersey. Zero cities in Texas made the top 10 list, and FOUR cities in Texas made the WORST list.
The list got DESTROYED on social media . . . and it even got so bad that TripAdvisor had to put out a statement separating itself from the whole thing.
A spokesperson said, quote, "TripAdvisor has no association with this study . . . in fact, we have concerns about the use of and presentation of TripAdvisor data within the study, [including] how they ranked cities against each other."
