Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, Chili peppers and More Team Up For Anti-Bullying Documentary

Slash, Ozzy Osbourne and more rockers have teamed up with Hollywood stars for an anti-bullying documentary, “#NoJoke.” The movie is due for release on October 22nd in honor of National Bullying Prevention month, following Andrew Cole, a former bullying victim trying to wrangle a group of his music idols to record a song dedicated to his fellow victims.

Cole travels around North America and the United Kingdom finding music stars and Hollywood celebs to join his cause. To make his anti-bullying song “Joke,” he ends up tapping Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, the late Lemmy Kilmister, Steve Vai and Meat Loaf, along with actor/jazz pianist Jeff GoldblumPatrick StewartJane Lynch and more.

In the trailer for the upcoming doc, Cole recalls his struggle with bullying at public school as a kid, revealing that he attended a total of 20 schools over the years. He wrote the song “to make a difference” for current victims, calling on his favorite musicians and stars to help “build an army” against bullying. In the film, he also tries to get to the bottom of the bullying epidemic by tracking down the ghosts of his past.

Metallica Wins Long-Running Chilean Trademark Battle

For the first time in over a decade, Metallica will be able to sell their merch in Chile. The band has officially won their long-running trademark battle against Horacio Mardones in the South American country.

To recap, Metallica sued the Chilean businessman for registering a “graphically and phonetically identical trademark for clothing and footwear” 20 years ago. After losing a round in 2012, the band has successfully had the trademark annulled by the Chilean Supreme Court.

This isn’t Metallica’s first legal battle over their trademark. Back in 1999, they sued Victoria’s Secret over a lipstick named after the band. And in 2000, they sued Neiman Marcus over their “Metallica” perfume.

Stone Temple Pilots' New Album Is Done

Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz has given an update on their upcoming new album. It’s officially completed and due for release in 2020… but it may not be what fans expect.

This time around, the band tried experimenting a little more than usual with their sound, trying out some acoustic moments and even a “wicked flute solo.” While the new record won’t be as “loud’ and “hard-hitting” as before, but Kretz promises fans it’s “beautiful.”

“We kind of tapped into our love of folk music that we grew up on in the ‘60s and ‘70s and put some lush electric guitars on top of that sound,” he explains. “We really tapped into an emotional side of ourselves and took it to do the whole record that way.”

Ginger Baker from Cream Passed Away Yesterday

Drummer GINGER BAKER died yesterday at the age of 80. There's no official cause of death . . . but a few weeks ago, his family announced that he was critically ill, and asked fans to keep him in their prayers.

He'd been in declining health for a while . . . in 2013, he said he had COPD from years of heavy smoking, and had chronic back pain from degenerative osteoarthritis. In 2016, he had open heart surgery, and also suffered a bad fall.

His family said, quote, "We are very sad to say that Ginger has passed away peacefully . . . thank you [for] your kind words to us all over the past weeks."

Ginger was best-known as the co-founder of the mid-'60s supergroup CREAM, whose songs included"I Feel Free","White Room","Sunshine of Your Love", and a version of"Crossroads". Cream lasted two years, and split in 1968.

The other members were JACK BRUCE, who died of liver disease in 2014, and ERIC CLAPTON. Ginger and Eric would later re-team in BLIND FAITH, but that band was also short-lived.

Ginger Baker from Cream Passed Away Yesterday (continued)

In 1993, Cream was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they re-formed to perform at the ceremony. They also reunited briefly in 2005.

Clapton hasn't commented publicly yet, but a few other rock legends have.

Paul McCartney said, quote, "[A] great drummer, wild and lovely guy. We worked together on the'Band on the Run' album . . . sad to hear that he died but the memories never will."

Steve Winwood said, quote, "A very sad loss . . . I was lucky to play with him in Ginger Baker's Air Force . . . and also in Blind Faith . . . Beneath his somewhat abrasive exterior, there was a very sensitive human being with a heart of gold."

And Mick Jagger said, quote, "Sad news hearing that Ginger Baker has died. I remember playing with him very early on in Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated. He was a fiery but extremely talented and innovative drummer."

Ginger was also known for his volatile temper. And he was the subject of a documentary in 2012 called"Beware of Mr. Baker". The title is a reference to a sign outside of the place he lived in South Africa.
