Gibson Honors Chris Cornell With Limited-Edition Guitar
Gibson is paying tribute to late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell with a new limited-edition model of their classic guitar. The Chris Cornell ES 335 guitar will be available worldwide starting on September 3rd via authorized Gibson retailers.
“Chris Cornell was not only one of the most iconic singer-songwriters of all time, he was a modern innovator who left a legacy that transcends music genres and generations,” says Gibson honcho Cesar Gueikian in a statement. “Chris fell in love with this guitar, and it became a part of his creative expression – we hope that this guitar will inspire fans to find their sound and inspiration, just like Chris did.”
The new ES 335 guitar was first seen at the Cornell tribute show, “I Am The Highway,” in Los Angeles earlier this year.

New Johnny Cash Doc Coming To YouTube
A new Johnny Cash documentary is set to debut on YouTube October 8th. “The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash,” directed by Thom Zimny, looks back on Cash’s artistic triumphs, as well as his personal struggles, including his battle with addiction.
The 90-minute doc, which debuted at the SXSW film festival, features original music composed and performed by Pearl Jam’sMike McCready, with a companion soundtrack, “The Gift: The Journey Of Johnny Cash (The Original Soundtrack),” set to drop sometime this fall.
