Food: McDonald's Is Adding New Menu Items, Burger with Creamy Bacon Sauce

McDonald's Is Adding New Menu Items, Including a Burger with Creamy Bacon Sauce and a Caramel Waffle McFlurry

McDonald's FINALLY figured out what we've been telling fast food chains forever: If you come up with some super unhealthy new menu item at your stores in another country, you'd be crazy not to bring it to America too.

McDonald's just announced it's going to be adding four items from around the world to its menus here in June. And those four items are . . .

1. The Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain. That's a burger with a creamy bacon sauce, bacon, and Gouda.

2. Stroopwafel McFlurries from the Netherlands. That's a McFlurry with caramel waffle cookies blended in, plus caramel sauce.

3. Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia.

4. And the Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada. That's a breaded chicken breast with tomato, mozzarella, and a tomato-and-herb sauce. It's also the one no one is really going to care about here.

There's no word yet on whether these are limited time items or they'll be here for good.

You're Way More Likely to Hate a Restaurant When It's Raining

Apparently you shouldn't Yelp when it's raining.

A new study out of Ohio State University analyzed whether the weather outside had any effect on restaurant reviews. And they found when it's raining, the odds of someone leaving a negative review is 290% higher.

Why does the rain make us hate restaurants? The researchers say it's because rain puts us in a bad mood . . . AND puts the staff at the restaurant in a bad mood . . . so that combo is just begging for a negative review.

Carvel Turns 85 With Cookie Puss Birthday Beer

Carvel is turning 85 this year and they’re celebrating with the ultimate ice cream collaboration: a milkshake beer. The ice cream company first released The Cookie Puss Milkshake IPA with the Cookie O’Puss Pastry Stout for St. Patrick’s Day, but it was exclusive to New York.

Well, now the rest of us can get in on the fun because Carvel and Captain Lawrence Brewing are re-releasing the Milkshake IPA to more states in honor of the brand’s May anniversary. This special beer is inspired by Carvel’s iconic Cookie Puss cake, and is made with Carvel vanilla and milk sugar to create the “rich and smooth” taste. The company says the beer is available for pre-order now and will hit stores on the east coast next month, from Connecticut to Florida.

But it’s still a limited-edition brew, so even though the rollout is bigger this time around, if you want to sip on it, don’t wait too long. And if you want to celebrate Carvel’s 85 years without catching a buzz, they’re hosting an .85-cent Cone Day at shops across the U.S. on May 2nd.

Five of the Best Meat-Free Fast Food Options

Fast food joints are offering more meatless options. The new one this month is Burger King's "Impossible Whopper." So the website Foodbeast posted a list of a few other vegetarian options that are out there. Here are five of the best . . .

1. Impossible Sliders at White Castle. Just like with the new Whopper, the key ingredient is soy leghemoglobin. (Pronounced leg-HE-muh-glo-bin.) It's pulled from the roots of soy plants. And it's supposed to mimic the texture and flavor of red meat.

2. Taco Bell's 7-Layer Burrito. It's been a go-to option for vegetarians since1993. It has beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. So it's pretty filling, and clocks in at about 500 calories. (Taco Bell's beans aren't made with lard.)

3. Five Guys' Custom Grilled Cheese. You can put any of their toppings on it, like grilled onions or grilled mushrooms. So it's not just cheese-and-bread.

4. Wendy's' Cheese Baked Potato. They don't consider it an entrée, but it can be if you pile enough toppings on there. One potato is about 450 calories.

5. The Beyond Famous Star at Carl's Jr. It's another plant-based burger that came out in January. It's made with Beyond Meat, which uses peas instead of soy. And it's cooked on an open flame, so you still get that charbroiled taste.
