Dog Accused Of Hate Crime For Pooping On Doorstep

The Daily Mail reported on a dog who was accused of a hate crime when it pooped on someone's doorstep. When the paper requested information on hate crimes from the police, they found a laundry list of ridiculous incidents, and they're using it to let people know to stop wasting the police's time.

The crimes have been described as 'petty' and 'undeserving of police time and expense' as some others include: an envelope being opened and resealed, an accident involving a car that was decorated with a remembrance poppy, a disputed 'line-call' in a tennis match, a dead rat found in someone's garden and a man telling library staff he was campaigning for Brexit.

Conservative MP and former special constable, David Davies called the incidents a waste of time to the police and called the public out to think 'more carefully' before alerting police.

He said: "This is part of the reason that police struggle to investigate serious offences such as home burglaries. People need to start thinking more carefully before they call the police."

Hate crimes really happen, and they're serious. A neighbor's dog pooping on your doorstep is probably not one of them.
