NOFX’s Fat Mike, Get Dead’s Sam King Join Rap Artist Ceschi as Codefendants

Some of the best news come with even better stories, and when it comes down to it, the development of Codefendants takes the cake. The trio combines the sounds of new wave, punk rock, hip-hop, and flamenco. None of the songs sound the same, so the band deemed their music as crime wave.

“It’s just a way to get around people having a hard time categorizing,” stated King.

There is plenty for fans to look forward to as Codefendants have several exciting collaborations and influences in this project. Punk veteran and frontman of NOFX, “Fat” Mike Burkett having already produced Get Dead’s records, had an immediate connection to the three tracks he heard by King and Ceschi. After that, it didn’t take him long to join the band making sure the people involved in this project bring something to the sound.

“We are trying to make great albums. Perfect albums that have no weak song on them. That is what’s lacking in the music industry,” Fat Mike said.

Listen for yourself as I talked with Sam and Mike about working with NWA’s the D.O.C. and having him on their song “The Fast Ones.” They also discuss their appreciation for the hip-hop legend and why Sam hasn’t been invited back to his club. The guys hint at some other amazing artists joining in the fun, as well as what to expect for the band. But don’t let me ruin the anticipation for you.
