A Teen Wins $48-Million On Her First Lottery Ticket.

A Canadian teen wins $ 48 million her first time playing the lottery. Just after her 18th birthday, Juliette Lamour‘s grandfather suggested she go out and buy a lottery ticket for fun, so the teen from Sault Ste. Marie [[SOO-saint-ma-REE]], Ontario, went to a local Circle K and bought her first-ever lottery ticket.

After the drawing, Lamour checked her ticket on the lotto app while she was at work, music started playing, and her screen read “Big Winner.” She’d won the jackpot of $ 48 million Canadian Dollars, about $ 35 million U.S. Dollars. Lamour’s colleagues were shocked and excited about the teen’s big win, and her boss insisted that she go home her parents soon came and picked her up.

The teen currently attends Algoma University, where she’s studying to become a doctor. She says she plans to invest her winnings; fortunately, her dad is a financial planner. She also wants to take her whole family on a vacation after she finishes school. "I want to visit different countries, learn about their history and culture, taste food and listen to people speak their language,” Lamour explains. And she’s not likely to be changed much by her new-found fortune. "Money doesn't define you," she says. "It's the work you do that will define you."
