Music: Godsmack's Last Album? Staind, Sting, AC/DC, Rolling Stones + More!

Sully Erna Hints At Godsmack's Last Album

While talking about his recent hospitalization due to COVID-19, Godsmack frontman Sully Erna also shared that the band may be releasing their last album. Firstly, Erna is OK but was surprised when complications from COVID-19 really took him out of commission around the holidays.

He also revealed that Godsmack was planning to focus on radio festivals and live international gigs that they have coming up. "The first thing to do is these shows," he said. "We have four more to do over the next two weekends. And then it's pretty loose until October. Then we start 'touring touring' in Europe, we do South America, we [play] some international [shows]."

He continued, "We'll be back the first quarter of '23 with a new record. The record's finished; we're done recording it. You should probably be hearing new music by summertime — mid-to-late summer — and then following it up with a second single and the full record by the top of '23. That's the plan. And then we're just gonna hit it one more time hard and heavy. And I've gotta tell you, this might be the last one for us — it might be the last record for us."

Sting Says AC/DC and the Rolling Stones Haven't Grown Musically

POLICE fans were devastated when STING left to strike out on his own at the height of their popularity. But to hear him tell it, he just GREW UP.

In a new interview, Sting said that bands are for KIDS. Quote, "I don't think any grown man can be in a band, actually. A band is a teenage gang. Who wants to be in a teenage gang when you're knocking 70? It doesn't allow you to evolve."

He added, quote, "You have to obey the rules and the gestalt of the band. As much as I love the [Rolling Stones] and AC/DC, it's hard to see growth in their music."

FYI, Sting was in the Police from age 26 to 32 . . . not exactly a teenager. But he was obviously speaking metaphorically.

Also, he did say he LOVES the Stones and AC/DC . . . so he's really not slagging them. And let's be honest . . . how different does either band sound now, compared to 40, 50 years ago?
