Music: Dolly Parton Has Withdrawn Her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nomination

Dolly Parton Has Withdrawn Her Name from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominations

You can relax, rock purists . . . DOLLY PARTON has withdrawn her name from this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame consideration. She was one of seven first-time nominees, and as of last night, she was fourth in overall voting.

But there was an immediate backlash from those who felt Dolly wasn't a good fit. It sounds like she heard all the griping and didn't want to get in the middle of it. Here's what she posted yesterday on social media:

"Dolly here. Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right.

I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.

"I do hope the [Hall] will understand and be willing to consider me again . . . if I'm ever worthy." She added, quote, "This has inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I've always wanted to do."

The Rock Hall has inducted several country artists, including Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Floyd Cramer, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Bob Wills . . . and the Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers.

Jack White Urges Labels To Build Own Vinyl Pressing Plants

Jack White is speaking directly to major record labels through an open letter and a video. What's his ask? He wants them to build their own vinyl pressing plants. White is no stranger to this, as "Third Man Records," which he owns, does have their own vinyl pressing plant. They even opened a new store last year in London.

This open letter comes in light of the massive delays the vinyl industry has gone through due to the pandemic. This has affected lots of smaller artists by causing them to delay their album releases. White began his message by saying, “At least once a week, without fail, someone will reach out asking me to help expedite their vinyl record manufacturing. It’s a natural thought… knowing that I own a pressing plant and have my own record label, ‘if anyone could help, it’s this guy!'”

He also went on to say that major labels building their own plants is a "no-brainer." “We have ALL created an environment where the unprecedented demand for vinyl records cannot keep up with the rudimentary supply of them. We’re all on the same team with the same goals. I truly believe that with a good faith investment in the infrastructure that got us here, we can continue on this upward trajectory and further inspire the worlds around us. Now is the time.”

Daryl Hall Was Asked to Join Van Halen When David Lee Roth Left?

A lot of people were upset when they found out that SAMMY HAGAR was replacing DAVID LEE ROTH in VAN HALEN. But I wonder how much worse the reaction would have been if THIS happened:

DARYL HALL . . . you know, the blonde guy from HALL & OATES . . . claims EDDIE VAN HALEN asked HIM to replace Dave.

Not long after Dave left, Eddie and his then-wife VALERIE BERTINELLI came to a Hall & Oates show. And after the show, Eddie allegedly popped the question.

Daryl says, quote, "Eddie said, 'Do you wanna join Van Halen, man?' He was half joking, but I think he was serious. I really do believe he was serious.

"And I took it seriously. I went, 'Meh, I think not. I think I've got my own [stuff] going on.'"
