Screaming Trees Frontman Mark Lanegan Dies at 57

Mark Lanegan, frontman of the Seattle grunge band Screaming Trees, passed away yesterday at the age of 57.

“Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland,” it was announced on his Twitter account. “A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley. No other information is available at this time. The family asks everyone to respect their privacy at this time.”

No cause of death has been revealed, but back in November, he opened up about the three weeks he spent in a coma as he was in battling COVID, which left him temporarily deaf.

“Screaming Trees” are probably best known for their track “Nearly Lost You,” which was featured on the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s movie grunge-inspired movie “Singles.” Mark also released solo albums, including “The Winding Street,” which featured Nirvana rockers Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic. He also collaborated with Queens of the Stone Age, appearing on the song “Rated R,” and on four other Queens albums.
