Stimulus Package Earmarks Major Cash To Foreign Countries

Congressional members, Monday night, overwhelmingly signed-off on a $900 billion dollar stimulus package to assist American households devastated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The $900 billion dollar package will afford $600 direct payments to Americans earning less than $75,000 or $2,400 dollars for a family of four earning less than $150,000 and supplemental unemployment benefits for out of work Americans at $300 a week for 11 weeks.

The package is all part of a larger $2.3 trillion dollar catch-all package that includes large portions of money earmarked for foreign nations. Under the 5,600 page legislation, money going to foreign lands includes:

$170 million to Vietnam, in part, to remediate dioxins

$198 million to Bangladesh, in part, to support Burmese refugees and 'democracy programs'

$130 million to Nepal for 'development and democracy programs'

$25 million to Pakistan, in part, for 'gender programs'

$15 million to Sri Lanka to refurbish a high endurance cutter which is a type of patrol boat

$506 million to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama to address key factors that contribute to the migration of unaccompanied, undocumented minors to the United States.

$453 million for 'assistance in Ukraine'
