My Top 5 Albums of 2017

5. Taylor Swift "Reputation"

I know, I know, but hear me out. Swift's "IDGAF" attitude really made for an interesting album. It was kind of cool to hear her let loose and let the world know how she really feels. Because if I where in her position I'd write a song about how much I hate Kim Kardashian too.  But she did still stay true to her typical T. Swift ways with songs like "Gorgeous" and "King of My Heart" and honestly she made my mouth drop with the saucy song "Dress". (damn girl, get some)

Seriously, it's a fun album and a good ride from beginning to end.

4. Code Orange "Forever"

Um wow, this album honestly blew me away when I first heard it, all through out the year I heard nothing but rave reviews about this album and up and coming band but kept putting off listening to them and I 100% regret that. Slipknot/ Stone Sour's Corey Taylor even gave them the seal of approval and several metal websites named this as their number one album of 2017. If you're looking for an awesome new metal band to really f*ck up your world listen to this album, you will NOT be disappointed.

Oh P.S. they were nominated for a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance" and I believe they're going to run away with it.

3. Mastodon "Sultan's Curse"

I'm going to preface this by saying I've never really been a big Mastodon fan, I liked them but never was really into them. This album changed that. So, it's a concept album which means it tell a story through the entire album, which is impressive A.F to me. "Show Yourself" is one of my favorite singles off the album but "Word To The Wise" and "Andromeda" are crazy fun to listen to, not a huge fan of progressive or "proggy" metal but they just do it so well. Also, get a tiny little hint of Avenged Sevenfold's new album "The Stage" in "Roots Remain". Definitely an interesting album to check out. Also, it's the official unofficial band of Read My Lips!

2. Power Trip "Nightmare Logic"

OBSESSED. I didn't know anything about this band until I saw Loudwire named them their number one album of 2017, so I checked them out and immediately fell in love. I agree with Loudwire's comment, "Power Trip are the breakout metal band of 2017..." If you even remotely like metal you NEED to listen to this album, they have an old school feel and kind of remind me of Pantera, which makes sense because they hail from Dallas, TX. Every song from "Soul Sacrifice" to "Nightmare Logic" will kick your ass from beginning to end and have you begging for more. Once again a MUST for all metal fans.

1. Rise Against "Wolves"

I may be biased because RA is one of my favorite bands but one of the best things is about this band is their passion for what they're singing about. You don't have to agree with what they're saying in their music but you cannot deny the passion behind their lyrics. "Parts Per Million" is a personal favorite of mine and really hit me hard after this past hurricane season. I highly recommend listening to this album and if you ever get the chance see them live, the enthusiasm you hear in their songs is more incredible seeing it before your eyes. Tim and the boys really crush it again with this album.
