Watch Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas Accidentally Hit His Guitarist with the Mic Stand

Matchbox Twenty performed at the Illinois State Fair on Sunday, and singer Rob Thomas got a little too carried away with swinging his mic stand.

During "Bent", Rob accidentally hit guitarist Paul Doucette in the head, which smashed his in-ear monitor in the process. Paul had to get all the pieces tweezed out of his ear.

Rob said, quote, "Every night I'm over here, and I'm throwing this [G-D] thing around . . . It nailed him hard. My best friend in the world, and I think I almost killed him, and I feel really bad about this . . .

"By the way, it felt like a really good idea right up until now. I feel like an ass."
