Scott Weiland Memoir 'Not Dead & Not For Sale' Being Adapted Into A Movie

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a movie based on the life of late Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland is in the works. Production company Dark Pictures is developing Paper Heart, a film version of Not Dead & Not For Sale, the 2011 memoir Weiland wrote with David Ritz.

The movie is set to to focus on Weiland's ups and downs in rock stardom, his romantic relationships, and his struggles with addiction. Dark Pictures co-founder Jennifer Erwin said the following in a statement on the project:

“It’s an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him – the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be."

Scott Weiland died of an accidental overdose in December 2015, after a long battle with drug and alcohol addiction. He was the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots from 1989 to 2002, and then reunited with the band in 2008 for another five-year run. He was also the frontman for the supergroup Velvet Revolver from 2003 to 2008.
