Over the weekend, novelist Joyce Carol Oates tweeted out a warning to her followers to always wear proper hiking shoes in the woods. Apparently she went for a walk in sandals, stepped in poison oak, poison ivy, or something else, and developed a horrific rash on the side of her foot. She included a close-up photo of the blistering rash to illustrate the cautionary tale, and it's pretty disgusting.
Twitter reacted, her foot photo was trending all weekend, and most people seem to wish they hadn't looked at the photo. I can't argue with that. I wish I hadn't looked at it. But I did. So now I'm sharing it with you.
