Wonder Woman 1984 Moves Release Date

Wonder Woman 1984 has joined the list of big movies forced to change release plans in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. The DC superhero sequel was originally set to hit screens June 5 and there was speculation that it might bypass theaters and be released straight to VOD. The studio finally made the decision to move it later in the summer to August 14, 2020.

Star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins both took to social media to share their thoughts on both the new release date and the decision to hold the film back until it can be seen on the big screen.

Jenkins said:

"We made Wonder Woman 1984 for the big screen and I believe in the power of cinema. In these terrible times, when theater owners are struggling as so many are, we are excited to re-date our film to August 14th 2020 in a theater near you, and pray for better times for all by then."
