A 26-year-old woman told police that after a night of partying, she woke up in a motel room alongside a shirtless Frederick Dencer. Authorities say they received a phone call from a 7-Eleven. From there she led police to the Panorama Motel, where they found Dencer in the room he had checked into.
In a release, the Los Angeles Police Department believe that Dencer was off duty and hanging out at the club after another fare had ended and was solicited by a valet to take the victim home.
“Had this been an official Uber assignment, Dencer would have received the victim’s home address with the fare, but in this case [she] was too drunk to tell him" said Lt. Paul Vernon.
After questioning Dencer, police said things within his story just didn't seem to "add up." They booked him on charges of kidnapping for the purpose of sexual assault and his bail was set at $1 million.
LAPD also stated in the release that the victim was not injured.
“The irony is, the victim was trying to be responsible by calling for a ride, but she unwittingly put herself in another vulnerable situation...Hopefully others will learn from this, and thankfully she was not assaulted or injured” said Vernon.
