This is a News Blog reporting the current happenings on Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty. A&E has suspended him from the network after comments he made about homosexuality in the upcoming GQ magazine.
This blog is a NEWS STORY about the backlash that has occurred! THIS NEWS BLOG IS TO SEE WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE ON THE MATTER.
THIS NEWS BLOG IS NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE! THE FOLLOWING QUOTES AND TWEETS ARE THAT OF OTHER PEOPLE, NOT ME! - THERESA
Phil Robertson has been the basis of a LOT of internet activity based on his statement he made in GQ, equated homosexuality with bestiality and called the lifestyle a sin. This is from the GQ article,
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men," he says. "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers --they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right." (Italic font and parenthesis means this is a quote. NOT MY WORDS. I can't believe I have to type this for people who just read words and send me sh*tty emails.)
What are your thoughts on this story? Do you feel Phil was wrong for his comments? Do you feel this violates Freedom Of Speech? Do you feel A&E are going too far?
A&E released this statement last night, "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty".
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation released this statement, "Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil's lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe. He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans -- and Americans -- who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."

Phil Robertson is not a 'victim of political correctness'. He's a victim of his own repulsively racist, homophobic bigotry. #DuckDynasty— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 19, 2013
