Obviously posting a nude selfie to your Twitter account, especially when you're only 16, is a really dumb thing to do. Like... really dumb.

But! Should said 16-year-old be charged with distributing child porn when she is the child in question? According to police in James City County, Virginia, that's a yes. After word got out that a 16-year-old had, in fact, been really dumb and posted a nude selfie to Twitter, they "confiscated the phone and charged the girl with one count of distributing child pornography."

All of her friends who shared the photo could be looking at charges, too.

If convicted, the girl will mostly likely have to attend a court-mandated sexting education program and will avoid having to register as a sex offender. There is a chance, however, that she could be sent to jail (the mandatory minimum in the U.S. for distributing child pornography is five years).
