Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has teamed up with Norah Jones to record Foreverly, a track-for-track tribute to the 1958 Everly Brothers album "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us". The November 25th release features Armstrong and Jones reinterpreting traditional songs that the Everly Brothers first covered on the original album 55 years ago. Armstrong said in a statement that the project came together after he discovered the original album a couple of years ago. He explained, "I thought of Norah because she can sing anything, from rock to jazz to blues, and I knew her harmonies would be amazing."
Armstrong admitted that the album is not what fans are used to hearing from him, saying, "The average listener might be like, 'Well, that's not punk rock' . . . but I like doing different things. It's fun, it makes life more interesting."
Good for you Billie Joe! Way to branch out. I like his rockabilly singing style, I'm excited for the album's release...check out one of the songs from the album... "Long Time Gone"
